Libyan Protesters Using A Muslim Dating Site To Communicate

Protesters of the Libyan government are using Mawada, a Muslim dating site. On this site, they are writing “secret” messages speaking about the revolution. Mahmoudi, leader of the Ekhtalef movement, has said to ABC News that he “felt it was an obligation to use [him]self, to use [his] skills in a field of Web development and Web design to pass on the messages and inform the world," As he created a profile and spoke to his male colleagues with hidden codes within their writing, he quickly had 171,323 followers. The Internet in Libya discontinued as of last Saturday, ending his connections with the fellow citizens who he lived amongst.

  1. wow ! i really think we take for granted all our freedoms, it really bothers me how these third-world countries disable the internet so quickly in fear of what their citizens will say against them.
